Doug, you missed one, or maybe not, given it was 6 6 months ago.
Danger warning over vehicle tyres
Three in 10 second-hand tyres on sale in the UK could be dangerous, an
industry body has warned.
etc etc

What actually gets me is the sloppy, lazy journalims, whereby a press
release from someone with a vested interest is pedalled as new by simply
reproducing the press release. And worse, there are no actual facts, just
vague statements such as:
"Three in 10 second-hand tyres on sale in the UK could be dangerous" - note
"could be"
"Many of the two million so-called part-worn tyres sold annually could cause
fatal accidents" - note "Many", "could"
"There could have been some impact damage on the tyre which you will not be
able to see" - note "could have been"
"An accident may have damaged the structural integrity of a tyre and the
only time you're likely to know that could be at speed on a motorway when
the tyre will deflate" - note "may have"
