No apologies for posting this to a transport newsgroup dominated by
polluting motorists who are in denial over anthropogenic global
warming and climate change. Now watch them try to rubbish the CC
activists.
"Climate change activists yesterday occupied the proposed site for
Britain's first coal-fired power station in 30 years, claiming the
development will cause huge damage to the environment if it goes
ahead.
More than 150 protesters descended on the site near the village of
Kingsnorth in Kent ahead of next week's Camp for Climate Action, which
is expected to attract thousands of environmentalists.
Activist Connor O'Brien said: "The purpose of the climate change camp
is to target those businesses and companies who are involved in
bringing about destructive climate change. This is the first of six
coal-fired power stations being planned in the UK and if they go ahead
the impact on the environment will be catastrophic."

Well ifthey weren't so bloody anti nuclear we wouldn't have to be
building new fossil fuel stations would we you muppet? And no ,
renewables can't supply the whole of the UK, in fact even in ideal
conditions they'd be lucky to get close to 10%% even if all the
potential sites were used for wind and wave.

Hmm I agree they shouldn't be building another coal-fired power station.
It should be nuclear.

There is a lot of coal, and they might as well use it for something useful,
as it's about the only thing it can be used for. However, I agree with
ou - Nuclear would be a better option long term.

Indeed; I can't see the sense in spending billions now on a coal plant
only to spend billions more later on a nuke. They might as well just
build the nukes now and not waste the cash on coal.

Nice try. However, the Daily Wail published the following about the
camp last year
"Jeering at the miserabilist, dreadlocked puritans disrupting the
holidays of "ordinary families" at Heathrow's Camp for Climate
Action would be easier if only these pesky protesters didn't have a
point.
"It would be more fun, too, if they were all workshy,
knit-your-own-muesli types. But they aren't.
"Among them are clean-cut finance workers, bird watchers,
scientists, hairdressers and even a former British Airways
stewardess."

That's because you have no shame, you senile coffin-dodger. You'll be
wandering around Tesco with your flies undone next.
