LOL! Rough justice!
"Dealers are refusing to take 'worthless' gas-guzzling 4x4s in part
exchange amid plummeting values for secondhand cars.
They say some are worth more as scrap as demand for steel soars.
Used car values generally are set to drop by 12 per cent between now
and Christmas, experts warned yesterday.
A three-year-old family car worth £5,000 will drop in value by £600 -
nearly three times the £225 decline in the same period last year.
That means it is losing around £5 a day for every day it sits on the
driveway - leaving many owners with negative equity in their vehicles,
paying more in repayments than they are actually now worth..."

Those figures don't sound right at all.
A 5k mondeo or similar would depreciate by more than £225 in a normal year

A loss for one person is a bargain for another. If you have to pay an
extra £300 tax for a 4x4 but you pick it up £3000 cheaper than it
would have been had the tax bands not changed then to me that sounds
like a good deal.

How odd, the 4x4 dealer up the road seems to be doing very good
business. I was thinking of persuading my company to buy me a newer,
larger 4x4 this year since the price is slightly lower than it would
have been last year. And if I choose the right model, there's no tax
penalty.
