The problem is that Gollum claims that car use is the biggest
contributor to CO2, so any attempts to cut CO2 from other sources is
pointless. That this claim is false has been proven to him many
times, but in true Gollum fashion, he just keeps on repeating the same
old falsehood over and over again. There is of course a technical
term for that -"lying".
