Ok, where was the bank holiday carnage Doug promised me? I saw none on
my way home from Rockingham today. No accidents, one broken down Micra
and no traffic jams; in fact apart from two lorry overtakes what traffic
there was flowed freely the whole 177 miles home.

Trip from very South West Wales, including M4 all the way from the western
end to J11, and despite the apalling weather of driving rain, extremely poor
visibility and strong winds, a completely clear run with no accidents or
blown over caravans/trucks. For once, I guess, the guy in the camera van
parked over the M4 must've been doing very little "business", as 60-65mph
was pushing the limits of visibility and safety, let alone doing enough over
70 to pique their interest.

Perhaps you should claim compensation from Doug, after all he did fail to
deliver on his promise.

That would be the circulation department of the Daily Mail, would it?

I managed to go from Driffield to Falkirk in 4.5hrs without breaking
the speed limit once and managed to average 60.3MPG as well which I
didn't think was too bad for a Ford Mondeo and has altered my view of
the usage of 6th gear on it.

Drove from West Yorkshire to Lancashire and back, using the M62.
Clear run both ways. I guess the terrible traffic must have been
elsewhere - after all, Duhg and the Daily Heil can't have been wrong,
can they?

Clearly you didn't use public transport, that was totally screwed.
