The difference is that with all those things, you have a choice. You don't
have to have a credit card, and you certainly don't have to have a loyalty
card. Moreover, the companies have privacy statements which you can read and
determine what they may or may not do with the data they collect. With all
the government databases, which they seem to be obsessed with, there is no
such thing. You have no choice on being on or off the database, and there is
no control over what they do with it. These days, losing the data seems to
be the favourite thing.
