You're right to point out that contradiction; it's a fair point but as
you say the word is 'less' not 'no' interference.

I would say that Government is there to protect us from each other but
would draw the line at them protecting us from ourselves.

So there's nothing wrong with law and order or the sort of regulation
that means your safe to drink in a bar, in the event of a fire, but
there's plenty wrong with the fag tax and booze tax that's then
applied.

With something like the smoking ban, which I hate despite not ever
having been a smoker, I believe it to be disproportionate (i.e. the
danger of secondary smoking is way overplayed) but would accept that
staff should have the right to be protected.

A sensible compromise solution would have been to bring back the smoke
rooms (the smoke) instead of the vindictive horrible proposal now in
place.

As for speed governors on cars, that would be a sad day but
unfortunately there are enough total mad bastards out there that will
certainly do their level best to make it inevitable.

Believe it or not, I quite like speed cameras.
