Anti-Smoknig Group Wants an Appology from the BBC - You Know Why.

Seems the pipe smoking scenes on Top Gear have finally and inevitably
attracted the attention of an anti-smoking group.

One thing this World will never be short of is an utter tosser.

I have to say that it was pretty obvious to anyone watching the show that
they were being deliberately provocative.

I hope they elect for trial by jury, and win.

If they knuckle under to the ghastly suits and bean counters of the BBC
management and apologise it'll be deeply disappointing.

The more smokers of any kind who are ruthlessly persecuted, the better I
shall sleep in my bed. I rejoice at the onset of winter, the thought of
all those future cancer patients - who should, of course, be denied
treatment - huddled outside their of watering holes, exposed to the
elements.

Please, God, that soon we hear of the first of them, frozen to an unlit
patio heater, discovered with an unlit roll-up still clasped between
his/her nicotine stained fingers, the yellow phlegm from his/her last
cough splattered upon the ground about their feet.

Filthy habit. Sooner they all die, the better.

Brian.

Two out of the three main presenters look like dope smokers to me, and at
least one has gone on record to confirm he is, perhaps they should have
sparked up a bong and given people something proper to complain about!

You can smell cigarette smoke when you are in bed?

Or do you simply mean that you are a holier-than-thou moralistic
control-freak?

Well, they seem to have obtained _exactly_ the reaction and publicity that
they were expecting. Isn't it nice when people react exactly as expected

I rather doubt the producers would have aired the show without approval from
the BBC's lawyers. Top Gear is, after all, a theatrical performance and can
probably claim the exemption for those.

And predictably enough, we're being lectured again about the evils of
alcohol too.

After all the hand-wringing about binge drinking, now they're wetting
their nappies about people drinking in their own homes.

Some po-faced puritans seem determined to make this the most miserable
country on the planet.

I'm not sure which is more contemptible: the politicians and busybodies
who keep coming up with all this control freak bollocks - or the rest of
us for letting them get away with it.
