So one would have to drive around in a low gear, ironically creating
more pollution than they would at 30 in a higher gear

That's not a problem as it provides an ideal stick to beat the
"inconsiderate" motorist with!!!

Is it any wonder more and more british nationals are driving around
with cars with foreign plates. Not to mention the number of cloned
plates around.

Possibly one could feel more encouraged to ride one's bike, creating
practically no pollution at all.

That would be fun on a freezing cold day when its pissing down with
rain and you have lots of shopping to carry or a 20 mile journey ahead
of you.

If I'm going to have to spend twice as long in my car due to travelling half
as fast I'm going to want something twice as comfortable especially if there
are humps, probably a nice big Range Rover, and out of spite it would have
Bull Bars.

If you're not man enough for it in those conditions then maybe not, but
how often is that? ...

Oh I dunno , every week when it rains or when its hot sunshine? As for
being man enough its more a case of practicality. If you live in a
perfectly flat area and commute a few miles then a bike would be fine.
if you live in a hilly area and have a long commute then not many
people are going to want to get to their destination knacked , wet,
cold and probably stinking of sweat. That might be your idea of a fun
morning but it isn't mine especially when I have to wear a suit to
work. Like it or not a bicycle in 90%% of circumstances is not a
practical method of transport.

I'd just stick the Landrover in low box, but still wish I had the old series
hand throttle. :)
