Great post and pics.
Brought back memories of going to France and Spain with my dad.
Keep taking the pics and posting your diaries.

I really enjoyed the read, thanks for posting.
Interesting to see the Gotthard tunnel again after the last time I drove
it.
PS I live in Sarr-fampton (see no H)

Greatly entertaining. Look at those empty roads too ! Haven't seen anything
like that in years. I could almost enjoy driving again on roads like those. The
Swiss maschine with no brain is a cracker too.

On my trip before that, I drove exactly 800km in my drive down through
France. At the end of the day my average speed for the day was 88kmph, which
isn't bad for a vehicle limited to 90 kmph- basically flat out all day, only
ever slowing for peages and when stopping for breaks etc.
It's quite common in a lot of France to be able to see two or three miles of
motorway ahead with less than half a dozen other vehicles to be seen in both
directions. It is infinitely preferable to driving in the UK, where I will
be in the week ahead.

Great innit!? My favourite is the A75 from Clermont Ferrand down to
Beziers. It must be one of the quietest motorways in Europe - and it's
toll-free apart from crossing the Millau Viaduct, which is worth the
money just for the view!

I'm always horribly depressed after driving accross France on largely
billiard-table-smooth motorways, to get off the boat and onto the
bloody-awful A20/M20. :-(
