A giant 'no' to Heathrow

Author: Doug
Date: May 15, 2008 23:18

An opportunity for some motorists here to get up off their arses and
do something for a change, on foot.

"Thousands of people opposing airport expansion will unite on May 31
at a carnival to create a giant human "No" that will be visible from
the air.

The march will start at Hatton Cross tube station at 12 noon and
protesters will walk via the Heathrow Perimeter Road and Bath Road to
Sipson Recreation Ground, in Sipson Way.

Once in Sipson, the crowds will spell out a giant human "No" to
expansion at Heathrow, which will be visible from the air.

The rally is being organised by the Stop Heathrow Expansion campaign,
which is backed by community groups, charities, politicians and local
authorities under the 2M group.

Pressure groups, residents and politicians will unite to show how many
people would be affected by expansion and highlight the masses of
people who are against the proposals..."

What leads you to suppose that people are not aware and why do you believe
it necessary to lead with such a pejorative introduction?

What is it about the word 'some' you do not understand?

You could fly in for the walk.

Oh great, the day I fly back from Sydney. If you and your mates stop me
getting back to my car due to road closures you'll be in for a slap around
the ears.

Two things spring to mind.

1. I'm far enough away from heathrow to have to fly (or long drive) to, so
to walk there seems pointless.

2. I don't see a problem with, or oppose, heathrow expanding.

:-)

Heathrow is the thick end of 300 miles from me. Any aircraft going to
it that fly overhead are still 10,000 feet up and completely inaudible.
Why should I give a shit?
