Subject: Why can I be fined by a privatised industry?

So I get my sprinkler out in defiance of my local monopolistic water
company's edict and become liable a 1k quid fine. How can this be? Since
when were privatised profit making corporations empowered to act as law
enforcers?

It is a bloody liberty if you ask me and contrary to the true spirit of
democracy.

You're presumably claiming that Duhg is in the "majority camp" about
global warming and green taxes.

First, this thread has NOTHING to do with global warming or green taxes,
numbnuts! And second, politicians are already back-pedalling on the
green taxes front in the face of growing public opposition, as reflected
in the scrapping of the £25 C-charge, do keep up.

minority here. I haven't fully canvassed my friends, but as they're all
