Crews tackle London market blaze
Up to 100 firefighters are tackling a major blaze that is spreading
rapidly through London's famous Camden Market. There are no reports of
casualties so far but London Fire Brigade said people were reported
trapped in the fire. Firefighters were alerted at about 7.20pm to a
blaze at the north side of the market, on Chalk Farm Road. Police have
sealed off roads near the blaze and some houses and flats are being
evacuated. Reports from the scene say the fire is spreading quickly
and has consumed part of the Hawley Arms, a popular Camden pub which
is frequented by celebrities including singer Amy Winehouse.

Quote of interest:
"The fire has jumped over the Silverlink railway and the railway
bridge has been pretty well scorched."
Apart from it being London Overground now - I wonder what massive long-
lasting disruptions it will mean for LO?

Appears to have shut down most of the Overground network barring Gospel
Oak - Barking. Also the main line into Euston for a while although that
has reopened.

Good news! Phew, I got worried for a while!
If it were to be NLL, I could easily imagine Overground being split in
Camden, probably meaning no service to Stratford for months.
Can't wait for the update in your blog! ;-)

TfL are still reporting at 01:00 no trains Richmond-Stratford, Willesden
J - Clapham J, Willesden J - Euston. National Rail site says that
services to/from Euston resumed at 22:20.

A report that just gets better and better and better.
Who wants to meet up to leap in the air and high-5?!

Yes. The Canal Market was probably the least visited and least
important one. The tube station redevelopment is a long way south and
gets rid of Buck Street Market, which is the most touristy one -
mostly identical stalls telling t-shirts for edgy 14 year olds. The
other markets are much more interesting.
