Most points = deserved champions. That's just the way it is. However it
doesn't necessarily mean they are the 'best team'. They don't play much as a
team.

I agree - most points = deserved champions.
I'd say Arsenal play the best football (at times), and Man U are the most
effective team (combining pragmatism with skill).
The best team, however, could be much further down the table.. Blackburn
perhaps? Everton?

Indeed...it's all a matter of definition. Arsenal do play some scintillating
attacking football at times, but have been consistently ineffective in both
penalty areas. Man Utd have scored most goals and conceded fewest, so that's
no doubt the most effective team and in my opinion the best squad.
Best team...difficult to say.
