Must say, I'm glad Celtic didn't rotate at the weekend and we achieved
another five star victory in the SPL. Rotational football seems to be a
popular approach to team selection but doesn't guarantee success. For
example, at the weekend Liverpool rested Steven Gerrard and Rangers rested
Barry Ferguson. Liverpool also found it tough going at Portsmouth and
Rangers "had a bad day at the office" through in Auld Reekie against the Jam
Tarts. Maybe a more sensible managerial approach would be to rest your tops
players against lesser teams at home, as alluded to by Alan Hansen on MOTD
on Saturday night. Otherwise teams will loose sight of domestic prizes, in
their endeavours for European victory.
