I know theres a fair few people that know their stuff when it comes to
mobiles and gadgets so thought id ask here.Phones up for a new contract and
had a Sony Ericsson s700i for 18 months now (Been pretty good apart from odd
software glitches).I wanted something with a good size screen on it but
doesnt seem theres much on the market that interests me at the mo so im
thinking of going for a combined PDA and phone.Only one i see at the moment
is the o2 XDA IIs which is their smallest PDA phone.Id prefer one on
contract rather than paying a fortune for one to put the sim in.Anyone got
one or got any recommendations ?
TIA
JB

The Blackberry is great, windows version of the treo is supposed to be
pretty good (dunno if it is available in the UK yet), my mate swears by the
p900 and is waiting for the p910 before changing it, latest orange SPV is
supposed to be terrible, HP 6xxx series
I would strongly recommed you go to a mobile shop and have a play with one
of these before you buy one. Some of the mobile/PDAs are horrible to use and
making a phone call is a real hassle.

If you like Sony Ericsson, the p910i has plenty of PDA type features
like internet, calendar, applications etc. Also has great 3d graphics
for games. You can pick one up on eBay for 50-100 quid, I am not sure
what the deals are on it for a contract at the moment.

I can vouch for this phone. Superb. Runs Windows Mobile 2005 which gives it
huge potential to do basically whatever you want (I run Skype on mine for
free calls over wi-fi).
T-Mobile call this model the "Vario" and has just released a new version
(the "Vario II") which has an improved spec and is available on a range of
price plans:

Once you've used a phone with a proper keyboard with the flxibility of a PC,
you would never go back to a standard phone.

Was going to mention it, but I haven't seen it or really looked at it
in detail yet. My mate mentioned that he had enquired and could get it
free on a contract though so perhaps it might be worth considering.

Just be sure to compare features since the Vario II has 3G (actually an
enhanced version of 3G - the first phone of its kind in the UK), dual video
cameras (front and rear), faster wi-fi (g rather than b) and other features.
It's the most advanced phone on the market at this time. It might be worth
the price difference if you can afford it.
