Have to say apart from the usual way to long team entries into the stadium
that opening ceremony was pretty amazing . The stadium looks superb too .
Must be one of the greatest ever opening ceremonies and makes me wonder how
poor Londons is going to look in comparison (Ok its a bit pessimistic but
just get the feeling it will be the usual London thing of the seats still
being put in during the opening event while a local chav lights the flame
with a butt end!).
On a political note though i did find it a bit strange how they are talking
about olympic unity etc when the Russian team walked in and VP stood up as
russian tanks moved into Georgia .

I could see those wires...;) Seriously looked amazing. Ang Lee, Crouching
Tiger, Hidden Dragon, was involved at some point but I'm not sure if he
dropped out over Sudan.
Also, I'm not surprised that during the opening ceremony they concentrated
on Confucius rather than the Cultural Revolution when telling the China
Narrative. They communists were a bad lot.

Gwad it's gonna be awful by comparison. It's be a wee East End knees up,
they'll probably hire cockney sparrows Chaz and Dave to sing "Roll Out The
Barrel"...or some pearly king and queen....

Ok ill give you that,the wires were a bit of a give away! lol . But even the
way the old guy went up and ran around the top looked pretty amazing.Never
saw the crouching tiger film so dont know who the guy was.

Yeah they mentioned on BBC that they would probably skip the revolution
bit....which they did.

Wouldn't know as I find these ceremonies one of the most boring things on
the planet and I'd never watch one. Don't like the Olympics much either but
that applies to these ceromonies at other events.
