After putting this to one side due to university commitments etc I
want to look into getting this sorted again for Hill Walking, But
since the last time I did it the Permit scheme came in and have no
idea now whats happening.
I have emailed the local assessor for more information about it but it
seems like the scheme is more or less as it was before but now they
say Training is not necessarily requred???
However I have got my Summer Moorland Camping leader training, it is a
SW scheme MLTB approved, under the old scheme and all i needed to do
was to do the assessment, submit a log book and some other things and
I would more or less get it.
However things have changed so need to find out what, and if what I
did was a waste of time, unless Cornwall hasnt changed yet, and is
sticking with the old???

As well as the answers already offered, you may find uk.rec.scouting of
some use.

I'm trying to track down what I think may be an Explorer Unit in your
District - any chance you could email me - the address on this post should
be valid.
Thanks,
Pete

Hi all,
I have just come back from our groups Building a Better Scout group
meeting.
One of our committee members wants to be a training advisor. She has
been told that she needs to get a form to register to be a training
advisor and that this form is on Scoutbase.
She has looked and not found it. So she has asked me to look for it.
I have found a validation summary form, a notification of module
completion form and a personal learning plan.
I have also found the 88-page trainer guide.
Can anyone tell me where this form is?
Also, why is it that every time I use Scoutbase I can never ever find
what I am looking for. It can't be me, I design websites, write
computer programs and make database reports for a living. There must
be some logical way to organise this stuff so people can actually find...

"Scouting for Spin Doctors - a Public Relations Badge is amongst
40 new badges to be announced today. We'll be speaking with the
Chief Scout Peter Duncan in just a few minutes..."
We know, of course, that particular award isn't "new", don't we?
A similar item was on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, as the last
item. The focus there was on badges for healthy eating,
apparently! (The item should be available on line at the BBC's
web site, using the "listen agan" facility).

Ive just come back from 1st Night back over christmas, all went well,
had no complaints yet about the £5 increase in subs this term (£30)
and havent really had anyone leave over christmas as such.
We had a programme meeting last week and the way its turned out is
that the other leaders will run mostly troop nights and I will look
after the admin and run bigger activites like camps etc. Which is the
way I wanted to do it anyway, wishing to start taking a backseat role.
Anyway, one Scout came up to me and asked when he could join
Explorers, I said when he was 14, "But cant I join now", "are you
13.5?" I replied, "yes" ok join then, Im glad to be getting rid of
him, he was a pain and he said he wants to bring some other Scouts
with him.
What gets me is they are lazy buggers and never want to do anything
remotely energetic (which I plan) but they want to join a very active
Explorer unit???? part of it might be to do with not wanting to do it
with annoying 10 year olds. Anyway Ill let them get on with it.

Hi all,
I have a problem with accomodation for some Cubs. We were booked into
the London Scout Centre for the weekend 16th-17th Feb as part of a
weekend to do Natural History museum and London Transport museum.
Unfortunately I received an email today from them today to say that
they had accidently double booked me and I would be unable to go.
We have already written to the Cubs advertising this with a cost based
on the
