We've had something of a push on adult training in recent months locally.
We now have a local training manager (LTM) who has updated/created the
records, assigned everyone (over 100 people) a Training Advisor (that
needs one, or has asked), encouraged more people to become training
advisors, run TA workshops so that everyone knows what they are doing,
advertised training modules in other locations, run a few as well etc...
He also happens to be an SL as well, and has a finger in quite a few other
pies.
However, although I feel the structure locally has improved to the point
of being what the SA desire, I can see no actual benefit to the new
leaders that have just started in our Group. We currently have 5 new
Beaver leaders (the entire leadership team), and 2 new Cub leaders.
The issues are ...
1. They have attended the courses, but the TA's are not necessarily
supposed to push them to validate modules!
It seems to be very much that the trainee is supposed to seek out the TA,
rather than the other way around. This is an issue that the LTM is
addressing, but it doesn't appear to be the official SA way.
