Did anybody else see the Scout Leader on this weeks Antiques Roadshow?

Nice bloke and he had a ceremonial sword that was presented to BP, but
wasn't the presenter a prat?

"Thrown out of the scouts for carrying a sheath knife without the right
badge. "

What a load of bollocks.

Why do people always say they were thrown out rather than admit they just
didn't like it and left?

Did anyone else complete Woodbadge training in 2007 and just received a
request for online feedback on the quality of the training?

  Dusty piles of paperwork

How long do other Groups keep various stacks of paperwork? Our Group's
HQ groans beneath piles of yellowing paper and old files. The
continued retention of some of it would, I reckon, leave us falling
foul of the Data Protection Act’s Fair Processing rules.

Any attempt to sort and/or reduce it tends to split the Group into
those who shout “hurrah” and start building the fire, and those
who gasp “you can’t do that, it’s Group History!” Am not seeking
long quotes from the DPA ;-) but I’m just interested to know what
other Groups keep and for how long ?

But that is simply your "local rule" as the onus is on you to ensure there
is a balanced programme and then on them to take part in it.

There are no specific requirements for a joining in badge other than turning
up and taking part.

The problem with some prater books is that they contain words that are read
out by the person and in many cases mean nothing to them or the others.

Personally I beleive that if you are going to have a prayer during the
meeting that it should be written by a Scout so that it has at least some
meani8ng to them and hopefully some of the others that are present.
