When I was "employed" in a job, as opposed to contracting as I am now,
that was also my rule. It meant that when you walk out of the door of the
office or school, you also leave all work thoughts behind as well.

I'd suggest it is a very good philosophy for everybody to follow if they
can.

  Parking Ticket.

I got a parking ticket today while we were bag packing :-(

It quite clearly says "Summerfield Staff" parking but I didn't realise that
without a badge it was covered by the pay and display.

The GSL for one of the host groups said that they would pay it but I feel
uneasy about that, am I daft?

Well, we can always count any before the end of the month and state on the
1st Jan that they are all "behind you".

I'll get me coat, it's cold outside.

Been trawling through the Radio Times (other listings magazines are
available) looking for christmas goodies:-

Radio 4 Sat 30th December at 10:30am 'Boys, Badges and Baden-Powell'.
Radio 4 Friday 5th Jan at 2:15. Radio Play called 'Be Prepared' about BP
looking back on his life.
BBC2 Tuesday 2nd Jan ay 8pm. 'When we were Scouts'. Loads of stars guesting
talking about their time in Scouts and Guides.

have a good one.

What's the aim/intended audience of the programme?
If it's to attract new yp into scouting, it won't because they won't
be pulled to a program about scouts.
If it's to get a few adults onto a nostalgia trip- so they say to
their kids "why don't you join scouts", then this may be the best way
of doing it.
If it's to improve the image of scouting amongst the adult population,
so the first word on their lips isn't paedophile, again this may help.

When you are trying to teach skills such as knotting (or many of the
other practical skills) whilst an overview on PP may give people a clue
as to what the knot looks like and the uses to which it can be put there
is no replacement for having actually done it yourself.

It is the type of thing that you need to be hands on and to do several
times maybe a quick session each week for several weeks are needed until
it eventually sticks and from then it is with you for life.

  Downloadable Badge Requirements

Author: Pete
Date: Dec 22, 2006 09:15

Is there anywhere I can download all the badge requirements? I'm thinking
of a single document (eg a PDF) as opposed to HTML pages (I know they are
all on ScoutBase in this form).

Its just now that my Troop & Unit Essentials are out of date it would be
nice to print of a set of up-to-date requirements for reference (and going
through ScoutBase page by page would take too long!).

TIA,

Pete

Bad form to reply to one's own post but I found the answer here:

So what did you do? Perhaps a Thief Knot might have been the one to tie
and then let him puzzle it out.
