I've seen you've got the reply about the modem. The adaptors are
different over 'ere but will work fine with a standard modem.

I didn't know people still use modems. I guess they're like those that
still use faxes...

You don't need that much in the case of extreme stupidity. I
investigated such a case, some time ago: a yoof had been sparked quite
badly, and his parents were all for going round to the cricket club
where it happened with pitchforks and torches.

The source of the problem was on the open verandah of the cricket
pavilion, the place where the waiting batsmen would sit, in front of
the scorers window. A cable carrying 240V was visible, hanging from
the ceiling on its way up to the 1500W floodlight mounted on the front
of the building. The outer sheathing of the cable was damaged,
exposing the coloured insulation of the inner cables, which in turn
displayed damage exposing the solid copper conductors.

I've been reading everyones tales of woe and otherwise. I work in a
council, from the same building where they organise the waste service,
so I get to see / hear whats going on. In this area they have to work
on 77p per household per week to run the entire service. It's actually
amazingly efficient.

As for landfill, there's hardly any left around here. The remaining
sites are due to close in the future (about 10 years ish?) so we have
that long to set up an alternative. Or truck the crap to where you
live.

I've seen our local recycling plant and how it seperates all the
differing materiels from the one bin. All very logical and well
designed, (yes, eddy current for ally) it's just a shame they had a
fire in it last week!

Maybe it was a dictating machine or an MP3 player or an ear hair trimmer?
