Can I pick someones brains? Might seem like a daft question but..

I have a desktop computer (non wireless enabled) with Orange (freeserve)
broadband installed and a Speedtouch modem.
I also have a wireless enabled laptop which I have never connected to the
internet .

If I buy a modem router with a usb adaptor for the desktop pc , will I need
to install Orange broadband on the laptop before I can use it for the
internet - or will it just pick it up?
