I have insured my car with my wife as a named driver for over 10 years
and touch wood have never had to make a claim.
We are about to buy a second car as we now have a couple of young
children.
My question is what happens to my NCD?
...as I understand it I cannot claim 10 years NCD on both cars?
...also, does my wife have 0 NCD as she has only been a named driver?
Are there any insurance companies that would allow me to use my NCD on
a second vehicle or would give my wife a NCD for being a named driver?
If not then would I be better off insuring the new car in my name or
my wifes name? (we both drive the cars equally)
Many Thanks

Correct. Nothing over about 5yrs is relevant, anyway - full NCB is (IIRC)
60%% at 5yrs.

Yup.

Some will, yes. But you may find you're tied to them on renewal.

Since classic policies don't use or give NCD, that's a bit of a non-
sequitur - like saying it's not a problem on house insurance...

But second car policies follow suit.
I have my Capri and the Mondeo insured in a backwards kind of way.
Because the Capri was my only car until last October, it was insured as
the main one. Got the Mondeo. That's actually insured as a second car.
Equivalent discount to what I get with the NCD on the Capper.

Sure.
But a classic policy - and I'm very surprised you don't have the Crapi on
one - doesn't have or give NCD at all.

It is, with agreed value, 5000 miles per year plus unlimited Class A
business use.
