I have a 1995 VW Golf GL, automatic. BION, it has only about
30,000 miles on it. I always warm it up and I replace the oil
and filter every 6 months. Every 2-3 years I do a basic tune-up
because it has always run very well and I use it so little it
makes no sense to change spark plugs which have 2,000 miles on
them, etc.
It started running slightly unevenly about a year ago, a couple
of partial tune-ups, injector washings, and other stuff
mechanics do seem to have fixed it.
A month ago or so it started dying on the road. Sometimes it
would start again, but then it wouldn't. So I had it towed to my
garage.
The (13 year old) coil was replaced. It died after 6 months, a
new one was put in ten days ago. It died within a week, a new
one was put in at no charge. So far so good.

Righto basically I have sprayed my metalic bumper up, spray job is good
even for a rattle can. But as I said in another post which my newsreader
has lost is not spot on. Its a little bit darker looking, although my
wife said she can;t see the difference and that I'm being a picky git.
I wet sanded it with 1200 grit today as it says on the can. Its come up
and bit lighter, but I fear when I laquer it, it will darken up a bit
putting me back to sqaure one.
I have bought some rubbing compound from halfords today in a hope of
rubbing it in and blending it a bit better, but it has started raining
here so I packed up for the afternoon. Do I compound the paint I have on
it as it is now ? or do I put the laquer on it then compound it after ?
also is there some waiting period before compounding it ?
Thanks

Every year I end up with a different insurer.
I understand why the renewal price they send out is inflated (nothing wrong
with optimism) but why would they rather see you go elsewhere than reduce
their price to remain competetive?
Do they snare enough long term customers on the back of a decent initial
price?
I was insured with the Post Office last year, their renewal price was

If you have an accident and there is doubt over which driver was at
fault what happens?
I know usually the insurance companies dont bother getting involved in
any arguments but what happens?
Do you both end up claiming on your own insurance (and paying the
excess) ? Or claiming off each others (with no excess to pay)?

Righto I got rtound to spraying my silver bumper today using rattle
cans. I got about 3 coats on and when dry it looked a bit darker than my
existing panels, only if you look quite hard.
Now as its metallic it says I need to flatten it then clear coat it.
Some say not to flat it just clearcoat it ? which is the best way ?
Ahh yes will gently wet and drying it with 1500 grit lighten it up ? the
paint guy at halfords seemed to think it does, not sure if hes talking
rubbish or is right. Not had to best advice from halfords staff in the
past, just wondering wht your reckon ?
All in all so far happy enough with the job, I can live with it :)
Thanks

In the USA version of 1987-1991 Toyota Camry we got the standard
non-upgradeable headlight reflectors (in a proprietary shape) with 9007
bulbs. I'd like to upgrade the bulbs, but the glass in the standard reflector
is so poorly ground that installing brighter bulbs results in simply blinding
oncoming traffic. And the contacts for the bulb are so tiny that the
increased current of a brighter bulb simply melts the plastic connector
housing. (Can you say "Where did I put that extinguisher?")
While e-code replacement lamps are available for many models of car, as far
as I can see they're not available for the 87-91 Camry. Nonetheless I'm
curious to know what style of reflector and bulbs were in Camrys delivered to
countries (including, of course, UK) outside N. America.
Thanks,
