Tesco Gerrards Cross 2005 aerial view

Most news from the Gerrards Cross Tesco railway tunnel saga is ancient
history these days because little is happening. I have just found a
WikiMap which gives a nice view of the work, but I think it was taken
on or about 16 March 2005 so it is even older than most news from the
site!

The white markings on the tunnel, shown in this photo
http://www.meadwaypark.co.uk/TescoTunnel/Tunnel_16_March_2005.jpg
and in the aerial view changed rapidly. My picture was taken at 14.30
and, judging by the shadows, the aerial shot was taken somewhat later
the same afternoon.

There are some rumours brewing, originating in the City I understand,
that Tesco may not continue with the project, but some other
organisation might. Watch this space!

I noticed the hoardings have been repainted in non-Tesco colours and
all the Tesco notices have been removed. We'll have to see what happens
next.

Ta for those.

If the people of Gerrards Cross weren't happy with a Tesco, think how
they'll react to a Morrisons..

what is the large metal pipe on the right side of the photograph for?
I noticed a similar one last week when I went through there; it looks
too large for drainage.

Have some more segments been removed recently? Previously I thought
the gap in the tunnel was about the same length as the isolated
Southern section, but last week, and today, it seemed longer.

You can see it in the wiki photo too (which incidentally is the same
as that on Google earth). Is it to bring the fill material in from
the end of the conveyor?

While they'll welcome an M&S. Funny old world.

Maybe Morrisons wins over Tesco on the appearance of their fruit & veg
section but the quality of the actual produce is usually pretty poor
quality IMO....

Not all that "funny" really. The M&S Simply Food occupies the
building with the white roof in the bottom left corner of the picture
- just the white roof, not the adjacent building nor the adjacent car...

You are wrong. I go about twice a month, because there are some
things I buy there that are difficult to find elsewhere. ;-)
