When America sneezes, the UK catches a cold ...

Just found this on the net ....

FCC to Deregulate Amateur Radio by 2010:

Washington, DC, April 1, 2008:

In a bold move the Federal Communications Commission has decided to
deregulate the Amateur Radio Service. This comes at a time when budget
cuts within the Commission are forcing its Enforcement Bureau to shut
down by 1 January 2009.

A spokesperson for the Commission stated that since Amateur Radio
operators are supposed to be self-policing that this new move "should
not pose a problem". And that it would also "solve the whole issue of
restructuring".

This news has come as quite a shock to many in the Amateur Radio
community, striking up many heated debates. "Basically we're being
told that we're on our own as of 1 January, 2008", said a high-level
League staff member.

In the interim between 2008 and 2010 Amateur Radio operators are
expected to act just as they do now. "Nothing's changed yet, and all
the rules and regulations are still in effect," said a spokesperson
for the Commission.

I'm trying to use the same trick to receive GB3RAL on 4m as described
for GB3VHF, so far without success.
http://www.g0afh.com/gb3vhf/df2zc_mail.html

From the article in Aprils Radcom , it looks like it has the same
keying sequence , i.e. it transmits JT65B in the even minutes - can
someone confirm ? Has anyone tried it ?

  Safty Harness ?

Is there a light weight safety harness around.
Just some thing to clip on a ladder or on the mast when I am on the roof.

My wife has gone on to me for years now to get one.
And after seeing 9H1AW in Malta falling to his death ( I should never have
mentioned it )
she's gone on a bit. " What's a man your age doing up there "LOL
Yes 74

I have looked in the normal places for a light weight one.

But they all seem for real heavy use, hanging off a crane or bungee jumping.

I would feel more at risk with one of those on and all seem to be secured at
the rear.
I need to clip from the front.

Any ideas.

I saw this interesting sign at a radio site today. A bit of an own-
goal for the radio industry?
