When one qualifies for Powerseller status one is invited to 'join the club'.
But it is optional.
My question is: Is it possible to leave the club and drop the Powerseller
status if one wishes? Obviously one could just reduce the account activity
so that one no longer qualified, but I would like to know if one could join,
find its not appropriate, and leave voluntarily.
Can't find anything in the help pages about this.

I think so but now Powersellers get discounts on Ebay fees why would you
want to? If for whatever strange reason you don't want to advertise you are
a Powerseller just opt not to have the logo displayed next to your ID.

Unregistering as a Power Seller won't affect your legal status (and
responsibilities) as a trader.

You miss my point. Under the new rules, a Powerseller is *automatically*
classed as a business. It is perfectly possible to hit the PS threshold by
selling goods and chattels as a private person. It is also the case that
said private person may well not wish to have their address displayed for
all and sundry.
Nothing to do with wishing to avoid responsibility, that.

You need to have 4 listings a month, as well as the £750.

... if eBay... but isn't it the other way round: Anyone wanting to keep
PS status has to register as a business, not all PS-qualifying sellers
being forced to register as a business.
