Exactly who moderates the other [moderated] Babylon 5 newsgroup? I have
tried several times to join a thread, at various times, and not once has any
of my posts got through. I'm starting to get paranoid and feel that there is
a 'clique' going on over there...and if your 'face' aint recognised, you
don't get in. Most posters seem to be on first name terms with JMS, I guess
a moderator or two thinks that must make them special in some way? I'd hate
to think that is the case...as this would be plain snobbery in my book, and
I don't think it would be in keeping with the spirit of B5 fandom. The only
way Babylon 5 appreciation will carry on into the future is if future
generations come on board......and everyone should be made welcome to a
forum for fans (not friends of the writer only...

The moderated news group has a complex registration process. You need
to use a valid email address otherwise the computer cannot send you a
form. Also check to make sure that your spam filter does not eat the
reply.

I use this email address only when posting to Usenet, and I get spam sent
to it on an almost daily basis. So the spammers are obviously harvesting
*some* newsgroups for addresses.

I only use this email address for Usenet, too. It has no other purpose at
all. I check it every couple of days via BT's web mail. I get around 200+
spam emails per day.

Actually, I seem to be OK now. Or at least I demunged my google mail
address, which I care little for anyway, and have received, returned and
have since been informed I've been successful with the rastb5m form.

Now I guess I'll just sit back and wait to see if I was being paranoid after
all. I've made a couple of posts to the recent threads on the group, if they
show up...I'll know I was being paranoid. If they don't.....everyone really
does hate me.... and that car behind me the other day really was secret
government agents in cahoots with aliens from the Crab Nebula! Wish me luck!
:)

[Thanks again Andrew and Jan]

Yaay! Success....my posts have started to appear.

The only reason I got paranoid about all this is because I dug into the
google archives last week and read up about when the moderated group first
went online. Some posters were accusing the group's regulars of being a
clique....and accusations of censorship on behalf of the mods were flying
around. My guess now is that perhaps they were just the trolls biting back.

Anyway.....all fine now. Glad to be proven wrong.
