OT - London undeground question (also Eurostar)

Author: Angus Manwaring

Hi guys,

This not about Mornington Crescent!

Me and my wife are off for our hols on the continent later this month and
I'm after some info on the London underground. Living out here in sunny
Wiltshire I don't get into London for years at a time, but as I recall
many of the First Ones had pigeon poo on their shoes, so to you Urban
Rangers....

I need to get some idea how long it'll take us to get from Paddington
mainline to St Pancras (to catch the Eurostar) via the underground.
Any thoughts?

This would be about midday, on a weekday.

Also, on the way back from said hols, when the Eurostar arrives back at St
Pancras, how long (on average) is it likely to take to get clear and on to
the underground. Is there a lot of messing about with luggage and passport
control?

Cheers for any help, and I hope you have a good Sunday.

All the best,
Angus Manwaring. (for e-mail remove ANTISPEM)

Five minutes, plus two minutes per station, plus five minutes per
change.

What will happen in year X?

I figure there is a chance that some Babblings might know the answer to
this. I have a vague recollection of finding (a few years ago) a
website which for any given year would tell you which science fiction
films / shows / novels / short stories had been set in that year.
Cannot now find it again (google produces several different timelines
for specific series but not something general).

Anyone heard of the website I (vaguely) recall? Any links to it?

Thanks.

  OT: Colditz episode

Author: Angus Manwaring
Date: Jul 28, 2008 14:05

This is a question for Five Points, so fingers on your buzzers. :)

I saw a recording of an old Colditz episode over the weekend, and I'm a
bit confused.

Do you remember the episode where a middle aged Wing Commander pretends
to lose his mind so that the Germans will repatriate him to England?
"Tweedledum" was the episode title, I believe.

It takes a while, he succeeds in upsetting almost all his fellow
prisoners, but in the end he is sent back to England.

Now my memory of this has the Senior British Officer receieving a letter
from the Wing Commander's sister, which is the sting in the tail of the
story - I think the episode won an award back when it was broadcast.
Anyway, that scene did not occur in the recording I saw, so does anybody
rememeber this - or did the sting happen a few weeks afterwards in a later
episode.

All the best,
Angus Manwaring. (for e-mail remove ANTISPEM)

We need your help. The Babylon 5 scripts team is attempting to locate Terry
Jones, best known to B5 fans as the compiler of the Official Babylon 5
Chronology which appeared in several issues of the Babylon 5 Magazine.

We have two email address for him that don't seem to be working:
Terry.jones940[at]ntlworld.com and Terryj196[at]nltworld.com. We are looking for
an updated email address or even a phone number. As of the publication in the B5
magazine, Terry and his wife Sarah were living in the UK.

As thank you to the first person that submits information leading to our
successfully contacting Terry, the Babylon 5 scripts team will gift you with a
complimentary copy of the next release from J. Michael Straczynski, including
shipping.

Please send all leads to help@babylon5scripts.com and put Terry Jones in your
subject.

Thank you,
Jan

From the moderated group. Unkind minds might think what they will about
Rangers and TLT.....!

(I've also seen no UK release date for Changeling, but that's another
matter.)

Putting this on a recent thread here where it's more likely to be seen
in a quick fashion....

Several things just to update folks.

First, many thanks to all those who sent along research suggestions
and offerings to be of assistance on the project I can't talk about.
I've been swamped with deadlines and unable to reply to any of the
public notes and private emails, but as soon as I can get my head
above water, be assured that I'll be in touch with many of you.

Second, as noted in the original thread before I hijacked it, yes, the
plan at the moment is that I will be at Comic Con San Diego this year,
primarily doing my thing on Thursday and Saturday afternoons.

Exactly who moderates the other [moderated] Babylon 5 newsgroup? I have
tried several times to join a thread, at various times, and not once has any
of my posts got through. I'm starting to get paranoid and feel that there is
a 'clique' going on over there...and if your 'face' aint recognised, you
don't get in. Most posters seem to be on first name terms with JMS, I guess
a moderator or two thinks that must make them special in some way? I'd hate
to think that is the case...as this would be plain snobbery in my book, and
I don't think it would be in keeping with the spirit of B5 fandom. The only
way Babylon 5 appreciation will carry on into the future is if future
generations come on board......and everyone should be made welcome to a
forum for fans (not friends of the writer only...
