As it was a beautiful hot sunny day on Tuesday, I took a run out to another
favourite pub from my younger days, the Wiremill just off the main A22 near
Lingfield. It was just as I remembered it.
This pub, being an old mill and built on various levels, is full of olde
worlde charm. The location is delightful too, being right on the edge of a
26 acre lake. Unusually, they open at nine serving an English breakfast
until noon when the full lunchtime menu comes into play. Not the most
exciting menu but all nicely cooked and presented. I settled for a cajun
chicken burger served in a 'rustic' bun with salad and a bowl of potato
wedges ... really delicious but far more than I could manage.
The choice of beers was London Pride, Timothy Taylor's Landlord ale, and
Harveys Sussex ... talk about spoilt for choice.
This pub is mostly about location, and sitting on the back patio on a hot
day with a gentle breeze coming in off the lake, catching the occasional
blue flash of a kingfisher darting by, was pure heaven.
This place has an interesting history ... check it out at their website

As usual, I took loads of photos, some of which I've added to my pubs
