Moderator needed on this group

This ng needs moderator so that users can use it again without all
the
needless junk on it.

Jeff, if you need help just ask!

This group does not have sufficient traffic to warrant moderation...
even if that were possible - and on Usenet I don't think it is.

Perhaps a moderated group somewhere else - such as on Yahoo Groups -
would be the solution for those who feel that uk.local.north-staffs is
overwhelmed by too many trolls and spammers (...and for those who can't
set up killfiles).

That was kind of what I was getting at... THIS group cannot be
moderated. It could only be done by setting up a completely new group.

It is /possible/ but it's also a seriously bad idea. Usenet does not
reside on a single server, (though Google groups does its damndest to
make it look that way) but on thousands of servers throughout the world.
To make the change would involve all those servers agreeing to comply.

You cannot convert an unmoderated group into a moderated one, that is not
possible (thank goodness).

You can, and it has previously been done in uk.*. There is, however, a
general presumption against doing so as it can be hard to ensure that
all the servers which carry the group update the status.
