Revealed by Fox News, proprietor R. Murdoch, not a man of cheap media.
"Viscount Linley was criticised last year for auctioning personal
possessions left to him by his mother, the Queen's sister."
The Queen's nephew, Viscount David Linley, has been named as the victim
of an extortion plot as it emerged the bail hearing for one of his
accused blackmailers will be held privately in an attempt to prevent more
details from leaking out.
A British writer, Nicholas Davies, dared to utter Viscount Linley's name
in an interview with Fox News in the US yesterday about the "sex and
drugs" video blackmail attempt as British media outlets strained under a
legal gag preventing them from naming the royal victim.
But Davies and the British legal system were well behind the many web
chatrooms and unofficial news sites that named the viscount days ago.
Viscount Linley, 46, is the son of the late Princess Margaret and is 12th
in line to the throne. He was appointed chairman of the auction house
Christie's last December and owns an upmarket furniture business.

A WOMEN'S-only Bollywood night has been rescued after bookings blunder.
Organisers of the evening which included a meal, singing and dancing,
booked Bolton's Albert Hall last August. But two week's before the
event to raise money for a women's refuge they were told that a rock
concert was to be staged at the venue instead.
Fatima Patel of Ethical Entertainment said: "We were distraught at this
news. This is the first event we have organised together and we expected
all sorts of problems but not this. Over 30 people had volunteers to
help and we sold lots of tickets, we didn't want to let everybody down."
Disaster was averted when the Last Drop Village and Spa heard about the
plight of the organisers and offered to stage the event there on Friday
November 2.
Last Drop hotel manager Jerry McGee said: "We were very sorry to hear
about the plight these ladies were in. We were told that all the profits
for the vent would be going to a worthy charity so we offered our best
possible rates.
Bolton council's adult service director John Rutherford has apologised
to Ethical Entertainment.

MUSLIMS in the UK must be honest and upright and serve as worthy
British citizens, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia declared last night at
a banquet with the Queen.
He made his dramatic call for the rejection of extremism to more than
170 guests at Buckingham Palace.
He offered his highest praise for Britains toleration of people of
different races and religions but warned that the world faced ominous
signs of war and conflict.
The Queen called for both nations to continue to work together.
Earlier the King on the first state visit by a Saudi monarch in 20
years was greeted by the Queen and Prince Philip at a ceremony on
Horse Guards Parade.
Inayat Bunglawala, of the Muslim Council of Britain, praised the Kings
call. He said: Saudi Arabia, like Britain, has experienced terrorism in
recent years, and we both have an interest in tackling it.
Tory leader David Cameron has said he will confront the King today about
extremist leaflets in British mosques, many of which are exported from
Saudi Arabia.

A MAN was taken to hospital with suspected TB after he fell ill during
an immigration raid at a Manchester factory.
Six people were arrested when immigration officials and police raided
Britannia Knitwear on Midland Street, Ardwick.
When one Pakistani national was being interviewed he began to cough up
blood which led officers to call for an ambulance.
He was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary, where he was treated for
suspected TB. He is expected to be arrested once he has recovered.
The six people arrested on suspicion of being in the country and working
illegally were all Pakistani nationals. They were taken to Longsight
Police Station for further questioning.
Rachael Hoggarth, of the Border and Immigration Agency, said the
operation was a `great success'.
She said: "Thanks to information from the public, we were able to work
quickly and we have arrested six men.
"We could not do this without the help of the public. Therefore I'd ask
anyone with information about those working illegally to contact
Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

SHAMED businessman Reuben Singh has been declared bankrupt with debts
estimated at more than £11m.
The self-styled tycoon - once labelled the world's youngest self-made
millionaire and signed up as a government adviser - had failed to pay
back a £900,000 loan to the Bank of Scotland.
The bankruptcy order was granted at Manchester County Court two years
after Singh was unmasked by the M.E.N. as a serial fantasist.
Singh, 31, branded a liar by a judge, said he had offered to repay the
loan over two years, but the bank refused.
Sources close to the bank confirmed his offer but said it was unclear
where the money would come from to pay it.
Singh gained fame as a schoolboy after forming the fashion chain Miss
Attitude while still a pupil at Manchester's William Hulme's Grammar
School.
He was named the world's youngest self-made millionaire by the Guinness
Book of Records with a fortune estimated at £27.5m.

More than half of all new jobs created under Labour have gone to
foreigners, the Government has been forced to admit.
The revelation was the second embarrassment over immigration figures for
ministers in the space of 24 hours.
First, on Monday night, the government was forced to admit that the
number of migrant workers who had taken jobs since Labour came to power
was 1.1million, rather than the previous figure given of 800,000.
However, in interviews yesterday morning, Jacqui Smith, the Home
Secretary, insisted that the majority of jobs created since 1997 had
gone to British workers with immigrants taking just 40.7 per cent. But
last night it emerged that the 1.1million migrant workers constituted 52
per cent of the 2.1 million new jobs created under Labour.
Chris Grayling, the shadow work and pensions secretary, said: "The Home
Secretary is either being deliberately misleading or does not know what
is going on."
There was further speculation last night that the figure was higher
still, after the Government admitted that it did not include immigrants
in temporary accommodation.

· Government warned of glaring faults in system
· Tens of millions needed to improve accuracy
Attempts to shore up the credibility of immigration statistics were
undermined yesterday as it emerged that ministers have been under
pressure from officials and local authorities for years to spend more
money on producing reliable figures.
Richard Alldritt, head of the official watchdog on statistics, told the
Guardian he had been campaigning for more than four years to persuade
ministers to spend "tens of millions" to increase the accuracy of work
on entries, exits and movements within the UK.
His remarks came as Jacqui Smith, the home secretary, admitted it was
"bad" that the government had underestimated the net increase in foreign
workers over the last decade by 300,000, but insisted they had filled
only 1.1m of the 2.7m extra jobs.

A massive £130 million funding boost for drug addiction treatment has
led to only 70 more users quitting drugs - at a cost of almost £1.9
million each.
Spending on drug services in England rose by 50 per cent from £253
million in 2004-05 to £384 million last year, figures from the National
Treatment Agency have revealed.
But over the same period the numbers leaving treatment programmes
'clean' - having successfully beaten their addictions - crept up by just
1.2 per cent from 5,759 to 5,829.
The figures have sparked fierce criticism, with opposition MPs demanding
an urgent inquiry by independent spending watchdogs, and accusing
ministers of "incompetence and distorted priorities".
Critics claim the Government has focussed too much on getting greater
numbers of addicts into treatment while paying little attention to the
outcome of the expensive courses.
Last week there was outrage when it emerged that many treatment centres
routinely offer addicts extra drugs - including heroin substitutes and
anti-depressants - as a reward for providing drug-free urine samples.

For Sarah Kennedy there might be a sense of deja vu.
Early morning musings on her Radio 2 show, a throw-away comment or two
and then she finds herself in the middle of another race row.
This time the 57-year-old presenter talked her way into trouble by
telling listeners that she cannot see black people in the dark.
She said she had nearly run over a pedestrian because she could not spot
him and had only seen the "invisible" man when he "opened his mouth".
Kennedy returned to the subject the following day and her comments led
to the BBC apologising to listeners yesterday for causing offence.
Radio 2 bosses are believed to have given her a ticking off.
The gaffe, the latest in a series of bizarre comments made by Kennedy on
her show, came in a discussion about winter road conditions and children
wearing visible clothes as they walk to and from school in the dark.
"That's not just children," she said. "You know what happened to me
yesterday. It was this black guy. It's lucky he opened his mouth to yawn
or do something and I saw him. He was wearing a black hat, black clothes
and he was just invisible."
