I'm looking for a timing device that will turn my printer off at a
specific time say 10 PM but wont turn it back on again. I will do that
manually . I just don't want my printer running at night but know I
will forget to turn it off.

Alan,
Unless you are using materials that are guaranteed by the manufacturer for
"X" number of years (dry rot treatments etc), then one year is a sufficient
warranty period against faulty materials and defective workmanship (and
that's all you need to cover) - although as a 'selling point' you could
offer up to six years as a latent defect period (as used under SoGA) if you
are confident of your abilities and materials.

I have an RF remote with an IR retransmitter. This retransmitter has
little flasher uints that you stick on the component you want to
control. I have an eight year old 60 inch RCA rear projection TV,
chassis number of PTK195AC (model P60812BL) that does not work well
with these if I put them on the front of the screen. I am going to
have to find the actual IR receiver and stick one on it if I want to
use these with this TV.
Does anyone know where the receiver unit is on the chassis? What does
it look like. I have been all over that chassis, but I don't even see
any discussion about the IR receiver in the service manual. I know it
is there someplace, but it will take a good long while to find it and
I thought i would ask you folks, since you have helped so much in the
past.

My parents have had a front door changed along with some other work. This
now means the surface mount alarm door contact will not clear the gap above
the door. I removed the magnet from the plastic case and stuck it to the top
of the door with Sticks Like S*** to make it fit. It did not stick.
Can someone suggest a better adhesive for sticking metal to UPVC please? I
do not want to be left with globs of old glue on the door from failed
attempts! The Sticks Like S*** came off the door easily.
Adam
PS It is the magnet out of one of these
< http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/TS012.html> and the reed switch was
sunk back, skimmed over and is not visible.

I am renovating a property which at the moment is unoccupied.
I would like to have building insurance but am having difficulty obtaining
this as it is unoccupied.
I am there every day working.
So I'm looking for insurance companies that would take this on.

Hi,
I want to build a garden swing for my kids - but my son is a 6 foot 2
tall 14 year old.
I have seen an adult garden swing for sale which is suitable, but it
is too big, as it is a triple swing and it's base is 6.5m wide ans
3.5m deep.
I have the old readers digest plans for a garden swing that is for
children which looks really attractive, but i'm not sure it will
scale.
The readers digest plans don't use an A frame. They use 9ft 6 x 2
timbers sunk into the ground 2ft and concreted.
I would need to scale this up I think, which is where the questions
start
a) do you think that a swing like this can work? it seems that A
frames are all the rage.
b) anybody know a way of calculating how high the upright has to be to
give an adult sized kid a proper swing experience?
c) what size uprights, how deep, would the group think I should try?
Phil
