We've got birds nesting in the ridges (between the tarpaulin and the
tile) in a few sections of the roof. How on earth do I stop them getting
in there? A lot of the roof has plastic bits in these spaces but some
don't. Any idea where I get these things from?
Ideally (thinking about it) I'd like to put some sort of netting over
the gap all the way along. I've found this
http://www.roofing.net.au/products.php#guttercover but it's in Australia
and can't find it here. Do we have anything similar here?
Thanks for listening.

Got an annoying problem with a JVC HR-J270EK VHS VCR. It will record
over the video track on a tape (in SP or LP) and play that back
correctly. It won't record over the audio track (so the previous audio
remains (played at the speed the video is recorded). If it recorded
silence I would possibly be less surprised.
Any ideas? I know it's old (was an an insurance replacement in early
2000) but it worked up until recently for recording the odd program
either from a dedicated Nokia 9850T or the internal analogue tuner.
Just bought a 32" Bravia and this VCR I intended to keep on another TV
for occasional use.
Tools available: 4.5" angle grinder, axe, 2lb hammer ;-) Seriously
though, I'd be OK with popping the lid to attempt an easy fix if
anyone knows what might be up.
Cheers
J.

Just wondering if anyone's still getting CPC offer leaflets in the post?
Mine stopped coming probably a couple of months ago. I know they stop
sending them if you don't order anything from the leaflets, but I do
actually order quite a lot from them (or did until they stopped coming).

Hi
The rendering over our conservatory desperately needs painting - plus some
cracks need attending to.
The problem is, how do I gain access to do this. Unfortunately, the
conservatory extends to one corner of the house, so leaning over from that
end isn't really an option. I could use a long handled roller, but that
would require a lot of sheeting and even then I'd probably end up scraping
paint off things for ages - assuming I could reach them. Plus, I still
wouldn't be able to get to the cracks.
So, I'm starting to think about scaffolding. Does anyone have any experience
of this? The conservatory is about 4.5m wide and I'd need to clear about
3.5m in height. I'm going to approach some local firms on Monday and
wondered what sort of cost to expect for a couple of towers and a platform,
including erection for a week. Any idea?

I knew it was there. Cow-orker had lost it the day before and I had to
walk about a mile of grass verge before I found it (couldn't see it
from 6 feet away). As this avoided having to explain to the boss that
he'd lost it, there was considerable beery gratitude involved.

Sounds very much like a dropped top hinge to me, check screws on door &
frame.

Hi all.
I am getting closer to replacing the front door frame & door.
I was going to use mahogany but its too expensive.
On Laver's timber web site they have 100mm x 65mm redwood ( I assume its
scots pine)
with a pre-cut rebate.
My frame has sidelights and a toplight.
Should I use this same timber for all parts of the frame or order
non-rebated lengths for the timbers
that won't form the actual door frame?
Thanks.
Arthur
