You are misinterpreting me. The spinning of the disk - unlike head
movement - is constant and does not change depending on what you do,
except when it "sleeps" because of idleness.
That increased noise from the disk is a sign of approaching failure
rather than being nothing to worry about is exactly what I was
arguing.
