Only if it is new enough. This feature was added to TDM around the
release of the PowerMac G5 (mid 2003). Earlier models don't let you
access anything more than the primary hard drive on the first ATA bus
via TDM.
I haven't collected enough evidence yet to say where the exact cutoff
point is for each series, but I expect it was the September/October 2003
models for everything apart from the PowerMac G5.

That method will work with any other Mac with Firewire.
