for the UK which is managed by committee@usenet.org.uk, & for which
uk.net.news.config is the appropriate place to discuss new newsgroups.
It has been adapted from the document "Guidelines on Usenet Newsgroup
Names" originally written by David.W.Wright@bnr.co.uk.

This document was accepted by the Fast-track method in February 1996.

The status of the document is that it is definitive as regards the wording
of the individual charters, but advisory so far as the introductory section
and the last section (on the status of the existing top-level groups) are
concerned. Charters for new hierarchies (or revisions to these ones) that
are accepted according to the usual Guidelines will automatically be
incorporated. The document is posted periodically to uk.net.news.announce,
and can also be found at <http://www.usenet.org.uk/hierarchy.html> from
which links to the charters for the individual groups can be found.
