Wise words indeed.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the Konica Minolta Z20. Yes, it's weird
looking, but it's the nearest I've found that fits the bill for
"everything I'd ever want from a camera". Nearly instant start-up. 4
standard AAs last for 400-ish shots. 8x optical zoom. Point and shoot
mode, or fully manual mode. Macro mode, and the ability to add lenses or
filters.
There is one on eBay, item no. 250061413878. I'm not the seller.
I owned about 5 different digital cameras in the 2 years before I got my
Z20, which must be now coming up to 2 years old. And I still find it a
pleasure to use.
