Hi,
I have been asked to source a small form factor PC. Ideally in desktop
(under the monitor) format, with built-in speakers, front access USB2
and SD card sockets and CD writer. Low noise is a must. Graphics and
case colour unimportant (they are blind, literally). A modem built-in
would help, otherwise a rear USB socket for one.
To run XP "comfortably" with enough headroom for compute-intensive stuff
like speech processing and text to speech.
They have a budget of a couple of hundred. Any suggestions?

Compaq Evo?
Tidy machines with built in sound and cheap used as not many people like
desktops.

Palindrome,
I have a machine that might do for you - if you drop me an email, can't
quite figure out what yours is.
Thanks

YGM but -
It's "me@ palindr0me.plus.com" - no munging has been applied at all.
It doesn't get spam- presumably the bots are far, far too clever and
know they need to change "0" to "o" :)

Can't you just stick the speakers and card reader on the monitor? Or
is it normally used without a monitor?

Would a Mac Mini be a possibility?

The reason I ask is that I could sell a Mac Mini G4 1.5GHz, keyboard,
mouse, *very* basic small TFT monitor, and Crucial USB multi-slot card
reader for this purpose.
The main disadvantages of the G4 Mac Minis, as compared with the Intel
ones, are that they only have two USB slots at the back, and they're
better off running OS X Tiger than Windows XP. The main advantage is
the price.
E-mail me for details.
