Wnt: Quiet cpu fan/cooler

I've finally bitten the bullet and gone for an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (the
'energy efficient' one) does anyone have any recommendations for a quiet cpu
fan/cooler? There's no side vent in the case. I'm not interested in
overclocking, but it makes sense to keep these things as cool as reasonably
possible.

I've used both Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro and Scythe Ninja Plus
-- both
are v. quiet, 4-pin connector so speed controllable via motherboard but
beware -- they are BIG

Thanks
Yes, I was considering the Arctic but it seems to blow so it would have to
be mounted between the cpu and the drive bays to blow towards the fan at the
back of the case which looked tricky with the sata ide connectors in the
way.

I can hardly believe the Ninja works (with no cooling fan) though I suppose
it must.

It comes with a 120mm fan and I always use it. Wouldn't advise running
any multi-core CPU without it. Also, it moves air around other nearby
components on the motherboard.

Note that unless you're actually loading more than two cores, even the
stock Intel sink is pretty quiet. Those things were designed for
Pentium-Ds, you know.

It doesn't actually come with a fan/cooler, I will be using four cores in
Linux.

I'd agree the stock Intel coolers are pretty quiet initially. However,
on the same D925/mobo the Intel cooler gave an idle (BIOS) temp of 44
degrees whereas a Freezer 7Pro gave 36 degrees and was quieter.

My other problem with the Intel coolers is that they block up quite
quickly with a fibre mat just under the fan and then roar trying to cool
the CPU
-- I've cleaned a load of them. The spiralled fins seem to catch
everything.
