Recommendations for spam filtering

Any Recommendations for spam filtering for windows machines with Outlook and
Outllook Exptress?

For ISPs who don't apparently do it. Tiscali makesd noises but doesn't seem
to have any filtering at tiscali without paying extra it seems.

We use BT, Easynet and Gmail. Easynet do have spam filtering in place, BT don't
as far as I know.

Gmail does it, and is reasonably good at it.

We also use Mailwasher Pro to get anything deleted at the ISP's server before it
gets to our machine.

"Magic Mail Monitor" - no risk of something being falsely identified as
spam and thus not being seen. Applies exactly the same standard of spam
checking to all one's POP email accounts. Deletes them from the
server(s) before they are downloaded with 100%% assurance that only those
that you want deleted, get deleted.

Particularly good for monitoring accounts whose users are still on
dial-up - it allows emails with very large attachments to be deleted
from the server (whilst emailing the sender and asking them to send them
a different way, eg snail-mail). Thus avoiding blocking the email
account. How else would a dial-up user handle an email with a 20Meg
attachment?

In reality, all ISP's should be able to do it, as they can see multiple posts
for their customers coming from the same source. Gmail has a 100%% record on our
accounts, but they do a lot more analysis on the email content to provide the
targeted adverts. Easynet is probably 98%%.

I know they must be very worried about intercepting the wrong email and
getting sued or something, but I really do think that by now there ought
to be enough research into this kind of thing to allow ISPs to get
serious about spam blocking.

It's one of those issues which everyone complains about (including ISPs
who have to upgrade their hardware to deal with the excessive email) but
nobody ever seems to do anything about. It remains one of life's great
mysteries... a bit like how Gordon Brown got away with saying he'd never
let house prices get out of control again.
