Hi folks - finally got around to hunting down a free text news server
that carries a handful of my groups and seems to allow posting :-)
(Hence the previous post from me)
Well ... as above ... I need a very basic PCI-e GX for my wanna-be quiet
and low-power PC (old hat now, P-M 1.6GHz in a desktop with 478-479
adapter thing) - but its all I need/want.
So I ordered a Asus EN6200LE thing (big hassle with delivery :-/ ) -
only to realise it insists on that feckin turbo-cache crap that wants to
nick sizeable chunks of system memory. Eck. _Really_ don't want that.
Then I discovered 2 PCI-e cards in my bits box :-) ... they're Quadro
NVS 280 things - I think quite up-market of a couple of years ago, but
may well be just the job for me .... 2 snags though ....
1) They're low-profile jobs - wrong backplane bracket (not easy to bodge
really)
2) I don't have the 59-pin breakout cable for them (although they can be
had for about 6 quid inc post from ebay).
Sooooo .....
