For some time we have recommended Samsung drives as being the most
reliable.
However, we received one for recovery today - a newish HD161HJ.
It is manufactured in China.
Just a warning - I wouldn't trust even a Samsung drive manufactured in
China.

How is Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 just ordered one some say it gets 5.9 in
vista, my old Samsung HD501LJ got 5.8

So on the basis on you having in one drive made in china you would not
trust drives made in china by samsung
Well i would not trust you with my data or to run a company

trusted by who ?
you can think what you like got any facts on numbers ?
my reply still stands on the basis of one drive failing hardly
supports and trend in drives failing does it

That measures speed, not reliability.
The Hitachi P7K500 is a very fast hard disk. I've just backed
up a RAID-0 (2 x 750GB Seagate 7200.10, SATA-150, PCI interface)
onto one of them, and I was getting write speeds of 6GB/minute.
