I can report from personal experience (i'm sat next to two now) that
they're pretty damn quiet - one has been on 24/7 for 3 years, whereas
mine has only been on 24/7 since purchase in May 2006

The only machine I know of that has gone noisy-ish is one I recommended
for a neighbours' kids - and if you saw the amount of fluff and dust
stuck around the outside of the case, you'd understand why :-}

As for reliability, none of the machines either I or colleagues in work
have bought from Dell have had a single issue - while it may only be a
small sample size of maybe 15-20 machines, i've had less trouble overall
with Dell than any machine i've owned or built.

The software setup on them - despite the other comments - is actually
quite nice - any Dell hardware automatically configures itself and works
without asking for drivers (they're pre-installed), and you have a
system restore facility (CTRL-F11 on boot) that will give you a "factory
fresh" install of the OS clear of all clutter in ~10 minutes flat.

Welcome to the Tiscali Idiot who today likes to pretend he is "Liam".

He is not very bright, and will change his name soon out of embrassment.

Google "Tiscali Idiot" for threads

Dell ARE engineered to be quiet. Even under total processor stress, the
fans are nowhere as loud as other systems I've come across.

This fool harps on about an ancient DELL system that he probably had
only *one* on his works call centre desktop, him NOT being responsible
for any activity within an IT department - This is fairly obvious
through the bleating "come and abuse me" and non substantiated comments
and misinformation repeatedly spammed to anyone who types his trigger
word DELL. The man deals in fantasies. "A lot of companies ditched
them". Yeah, right! :-(
