Hello,
I need to route a 1" roundover on a bookshelf speaker project. Total
is about 6 linear feet overall. I have the bit, I have the workpiece
ready, I can run the pieces... I just don't have the router table to
do it with. My plunge router has served me brilliantly over the years,
but this is out of its league and I can't justify the cost of a router
table for 6' of routing (though I know it would come in handy in the
future, too). I've considered the DIY remedy of a "homemade" router
table, but my plunge router's base will not fit the diameter of the
roundover bit, so I run the possibility of having the plunge slip
midcut, the bit striking the base at 6,000 RPM sending shrapnel
through my fleshy bits.
That's hopefully where you come in. Do you have a router table with a
fence? Does the router have a 1/2" collet? Can it handle a bit with a
diameter of about 2 1/2"? Most importantly, could I borrow access to
it for about 10 minutes? :)
Many thanks in advance,
Brian
