The news likes to keep alive the notion that there is still some kind of
real race going on, however, looking at a website like:
http://www.electoral-vote.com/
. . . which tracks state polls, McCain has the election sewed up pretty
well. In the last election, some of the key states were too close to call
but in the red states now, McCain beats both candidates by a fairly large
margin, if the election were held today.

That's a great site.
If you're in the computer industry you may be familiar with the guy
who is the "Votemaster" - Andrew S. Tanenbaum, author of "Computer
Networks."
But I don't think you looked at the site very carefully.

Looking at the map on the original page, the states are mostly red. The
numbers he has reflect the polls but many of those polls are very close.
The last election, where the state polls were close, the states went repub.
The midwest, all the way down to texas, then through the southeast is red.
Some of the northeast and west coast is blue.
Once the election results come in and the reporters check off each state,
McCain, McCain, McCain, etc. I find it hard to believe that the dems will
pull ahead.
However, at this same time in the early 90s, the number one candidate was
perot, number two Bush senior, number three Clinton. So, there is a lot of
time yet and I noticed McCain has his own little reverend wright
controversey with John Hagee. He endorsed McCain which McCain welcoming it
and then made offensive remarks about Catholics and implying the church
(Catholic) hates Jews, etc.

Did you look at the maps that showed Obama vs. McCain and Clinton vs.
