I have about eight four-foot shop lights in my garage. Haven't changed
any bulbs in many years, but then I don;t use them much either. In one
fixture, both bulbs were down to where they only lit for a couple of
inches near the ends.
I had a case of new bulbs that have been sitting on a shelf, also for
many years. I put new bulbs in the fixture and they wouldn't light at
all.
I also had several new fixtures that have been sitting on a shelf for
years, so I swapped the fixture and mounted the two new bulbs. They
only light for a couple of inches at each end.
All the other fixtures and bulbs are of similar vintage and all the
others work.
What's the deal? I seriously doubt the new fixture is bad. Did the
case of bulbs go bad from sitting for so long?
