Moving To France - Bring Your Sense Of Humour!

Author: prqview200
Date: Dec 31, 2007 21:24

In this article from PFS France (http://
www.propertyforsalefrance.co.uk/), B A Boyle a British expat, writes a
"tongue in cheek" account about the communication challenges they
faced when they moved to France.

For many newcomers to France, one of the greatest challenges is
actually to make sense of the French language which we studied years
ago in school.

If you're lucky you may still remember a little vocabulary or how to
conjugate verbs, the exceptions and the rules. Nevertheless, beware.
french learned at school has its limitations. It's most unlikely that
you will be able to impress anyone by asking "Where is the station?"
"I'd like to book a room with a shower" or even "How do I get to the
Eiffel Tower"

So, soon after we moved here, we came to rely on two very good pieces
of advice:

Yes, this is much needed. And it now time for ALL people affected to
go ahead and assert themselves, and tell Big Brutha government "thats
far enough of that!"

To the very essential north carolina groups.

To the politics groups, to let both the evil Republican party and the
Democratic party that they have taken this country so very far astray
of what the founding fathers of this country envisioned.

The greatest American patriot evah - George Washington! The first
very evil charlatan of Big Bruther govmint - Thomas Jefferson, with
his very obtrusive Federalist party. Which is when this fine country
to go astray.

So that explains my MULTIPOST to alt.politics.

And the Bush group? To let that asshole know that we have had far
enough of his evil cronyism. The very large no-bid contracts to
Halliburton - that of the evil, triplechinned Dick Cheney, KBR, and
the very sinful and unlawful hooligans at Blackwater Consulting.

  Concrete Cutting: The Unknown Niche

Author: apollo66942

What is Concrete Cutting?

Concrete cutting is a process of controlled sawing, drilling and
removal of concrete performed by skilled operators using special saws
that use diamond impregnated blades. Unlike the old-fashioned dusty
"jack hammer" method, modern concrete cutting leaves a smooth
attractive finish and utilizes water so as not to create any dust or
mess. There are many different kinds of concrete cutting but the most
common are wall sawing, core drilling and slab or flat sawing.

Wall Sawing is the process of cutting openings such as doors or
windows in concrete walls, usually no more than 12" thick but in some
cases up to 24" thick. This is accomplished by using a saw that
attaches...

The Republicans Tanked the Real Estate Market

Author: T.L.
Date: Dec 28, 2007 15:36

Well the housing market is in a massive downslide now. I've worked in
the Triangle Real Estate market for almost 20 years and have observed
that both boom and bust cycles tend to hit this area with a bit of a
delay behind what you see in the national news. We are already seeing
the pinch here in the Triangle, with many homes now being tax-assessed
beyond what their true value would be if it stayed on a linear growth
path of 4-5%% per year, while the prices they will actually sell for
are slipping to 10-20 %% below that, only in the last two quarters.

Historically my professional interest in all this is moot, because
when prices drop, investors swoop in and my income remains relatively
constant. However, anyone who owns a home (especially those who own
more than one in the are) should be scared out of their wits right
now. The trends I'm seeing are the worst in 20 years.

And, the rock bottom in the Triangle may come right around the end of
this year, at which point the GOP will say "we held it up while we
were in office, and you guys let it slide"..

Had Toni Vernelli gone ahead with her pregnancy ten years ago, she
would
know at first hand what it is like to cradle her own baby, to have a
pair
of innocent eyes gazing up at her with unconditional love, to feel a
little hand slipping into hers - and a voice calling her Mummy.

But the very thought makes her shudder with horror.

Because when Toni terminated her pregnancy, she did so in the firm
belief
she was helping to save the planet.

Scroll down for more...

Desperate measures: Toni Vernelli was steralised at age 27 to reduce
her
carbon footprint
