~~~AllisonWonderland~~~:
Actually, Lincoln had an income tax levied to help the Union FIGHT the Civil
War. And when it (the war) was over the income tax law expired.
The present income tax law was put into the Constitution and passed by
Congress July 2, 1909, and was Ratified February 3, 1913.
So this is a whole NEW law.
Anyway, wonder why no one else responded to my very informative post? I
would have thought that Semper Liber would have shown some appreciation for
my very knowledgable offering! :) I think he didn't REALLY want to know the
answer to what he asked, as he seems to be one of those who think that the
income tax isn't really a law thingie in the first place. I mean, you ask
the average person about such things and they haven't a clue as to the
answer, or even where to look for an answer.
Oh well.
